The hike in from the north side was absolutely beautiful. The service road path is a bit rough and can be muddy at times but seems to be a bit shorter than the beach path. The beach path takes you along the coastline and ocean front and is stunningly beautiful. Try looking back towards the north shore for beautiful views of the north shore coast. Stunning!!

And the view from the pill box at the point is also stunning, with 360% views of the Waianae mountains and coastline and the mountains along the north side path and the ocean. It doesn't get any better than that!

It's like being in another world, so unlike the rest of Oahu with it's urban areas, noise, cars, etc.

100% recommended for those who can easily hike the 5+ miles round trip safely.

A demanding trail from the west side. Not much elevation gain, but some ups and downs. Not many shaded areas, bring water or other for hydration. Some areas of trail are a bit exposed to coastal drop-offs. Gated area at point is a great Ecosystem. Sandy and coral with monk seals. Keep distance and respect their resting. Saw many on trail with flips flops and nothing to support them if things go wrong, worth being prepared. Beautiful coastal views and even saw a few whale breaches.

Took me a few hours to hike the >5 miles to the point and back from the north side. A fantastic hike, got to see some seals and how they protect the environment in various ways, such as the predator fence. I'll be back!

Make sure you take water, wear sunscreen, and a decent hat. Even though it can be very windy, it's really hot.

Nice, easy hiking trail. You can start the trail either from the north shore entrance or the west side entrance. However, the trail gets pretty perilous about midway from the west side entrance.

Not a lot of shade and it gets really hot at noon especially in the summer. Sun screen is a must!!

The north shore side has a beach trail and a mountain side trail. Both are nice but the mountain side trail is faster but less scenic.

West side entrance also has a beach trail but more rocky and less walkable than from the north shore side.

Great hike. Go as far as you want. We stopped at the bird sanctuary and saw some nesting Albatross. The scenery was amazing. We took the coastal trail first and came back on the dirt road.
