Dr. Joy is AWESOME. He is extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and just a super cool person on top of it. After breaking my wrist in a million different places falling off my horse, Dr. Joy swooped in and made everything better. I am back on the horse (literally ha!) in what seemed like no time, and can’t say enough about my experience. He was very articulate and clear about my treatment options and super helpful with all my questions. I feel like he truly cared about my progress and helped me to get back riding again quickly. Thank you so so much to his awesome staff also. In particular, Carli, who ran the x-rays is totally sweet and super friendly (Thank You!!). I can’t say enough good things about them. I highly recommend going to Dr. Joy you will not be disappointed!
I happen to get hurt pretty bad the day after Christmas and the ER doctor at Palos suggested I see Dr. Edward Joy in Tinley Park. I was diagnosed with a fractured humerus bone with hyper extended nerve damage down thru my hand. After Dr. Joy did surgery he sent me to therapy and said the nerve would heal in about 6 months and told me not to get discouraged. It's hard to stay positive when you have no hand function but after 6 months he was right, the nerve came back and I'm 100% back to normal. I would recommend Dr. Joy and his staff to anyone who needs orthopedic surgery.
I broke my hip 3 months ago and was fortunate that Dr Joy was on call that night at the hospital. Dr Joy met with me and my husband and took the time to explain my injury and exactly how he was going to do to fix it. He was calming and reassuring that everything was going to be alright. He took the time to answer all of my questions before and after surgery. I am thankful that Dr Joy was there the night of my accident. I couldn't have asked for a better doctor than Dr Joy.
I have been to Dr. Joy's many times. He has fixed my shoulder that had a rotator cuff tear along with a bicep tear. He also was able to do cubicle tunnel surgery on both of my elbows. I have seen him for other issues that didn't need surgery. I will be back to see him and his staff again. I recommend Dr. Joy and his staff to anyone. He is a skilled orthopedic surgeon.
Several yers ago, I had an accident where I de-laminated the major tendons in my right shoulder, and severed my upper biceps tendon. When I went to see Dr. Joy, I was not able to move my elbow from my side. Dr.Joy used tendon tissue from my right biceps to rebuild my shoulder, and re-attached my biceps too. Two years later I severed my lower biceps and he re-attached that as well. These injuries required extensive rehab therapy and he was a constant as far as checking my progress as I moved through the long tedious process. Today my right shoulder has the same strength and stamina as my left side, as does my biceps. I have regained full range of motion and even returned to playing racquetball. I have seen Dr. Joy for other injuries, and my children have seen him as well. I think Dr.Joy is a very gifted surgeon who does a great job in the operating room, but also looks to avoid surgery when possible. I seldom refer a doctor to others, but I 'd refer anyone who has the need for an orthopedic doctor to him without reservation. The friends I have referred to him have had nothing but praise for his work.
