  This has been the best workout for my core, legs and back side! When I first tried lateral edge a few years ago, I wasn’t sure what to expect especially since I knew it would be a slippery slide board. Freddy does an excellent job of keeping you engaged and working core muscles all in 45 minutes! It’s definitely a favorite of mine and my friends and I make a point to meet every week at lateral! Give it a try!

  Freddy Johnson's Lateral Edge slide class is the ultimate aerobic workout for athletes looking for something challenging, new and FUN! The slide board is ideal for fitness and sports training focusing on lateral agility and core stability training/conditioning. While the location is held in a private room at the North Shore Ice Arena in Northbrook, you do not need to be a hockey player or parent to take the classes. The instructors customize the workout for young and older athletes of any sport looking to improve their sports performance or to anyone who is just looking to change up their workout routine and stay in shape. It’s the perfect remedy for one who is tired of the same old workout class who is looking for something new that will provide results.
  
  The classes are fun and consist of lateral strength and speed exercises to tone and strengthen while providing a “head to toe” workout utilizing body weight, bands and light weights. The slide board is great for injury prevention that will strengthen knees and hips. As a life-long runner with knee issues, Lateral Edge is one of the few workouts that my knees can handle and it has made them stronger. My children play hockey and soccer and have found the classes extremely beneficial in improving their skating, speed, leg strength, balance and agility. The instructors are extremely knowledgeable and are kind and patient with athletes young and old and even beginners who are looking to improve their athletic performance. Definitely a perfect fit for you and your child!

  Lateral Edge has been a key asset towards my goalie training camps, Midwest Goalie School,LLC for the past 2 years and every summer they get raving reviews from our students. Freddy has customized a program for goalies and understands the importance of power, explosiveness, cardio, and coordination that are fundamental to high level athletes. Lateral Edge works with our 8-10 year old beginners all the way up to our high level advanced students in juniors and college. I believe any hockey player or goalie should take advantage of their excellent service. After all, as the owner of the camp and current professional athlete, I love the slideboard workouts and see great results every time. The high intensity nature makes it perfect for hockey training and overall fitness

Slide Board Training Program - Lateral Edge

The Lateral Edge staff is professional, knowledgeable and great with kids. They push, instruct, and encourage players during every session. I have seen improvement in speed with my players because of the program they developed.
