As a healthcare provider I am admittedly very particular about the care provided to my loved ones. I can not express my gratitude for the amazing care the Southern Comfort team provided my step father in his final weeks of life, and the caring support for my Mom was beyond anything I could have ever wanted. I would recommend this team to anyone needing palliative/ hospice care.
You will not find a more dedicated group of hospice providers! I would choose Southern Care again and again. From the admissions team to the care providers and the ancillary team, everyone provides patient centered care! Love, love, love this company!
Good Communication and support from Southern Care. Their Nurse called or emailed me weekly for any status updates he saw with changes from a medical perspective. He worked well in tandem with the nurses at the nursing home. He provided insights to what he saw occurring from the end of life perspective that I might not have observed without his communication (such as changes to the skin and what it indicated).
The minister they provided also communicated weekly on his visits with Mom and I know he assisted in maintaining mom's faith during her end of life. He called after mom passed to see if the family needed additional support of any kind.
While I visited mom at least every other day to feed her lunch, SouthernCare support was very valuable to me during the final weeks.
Probably the most amazing assistance I received was the night my mother passed was from lady I met as soon as I got to the nursing home. We talked and she informed me she was with SouthernCare. After the ambulance from the funeral home from Columbus Indiana arrived to take Mom back to Columbus, she stayed with me to sort and pack mom's clothes and helped with other work that needed to be done. I later thanked her and told her to leave as it was getting late but she refused to do so until she was sure I was done with everything I had wanted to complete at the nursing home. Caring support on a very difficult day,
I would recommend them highly.
