Thea Bowman Leadership Academy

Thea Bowman is a five-star school. The administration is not only concerned with helping our scholars succeed, they teach the staff to work in the spirit of excellence as well. Our Art department placed First in the Munster Visual Arts Tri-State competition, first in the state in the NAACP Act-So competition, and has competed in the Nationals, twice! Thea Bowman Leadership Academy produces LEADERS, and I am proud to be part of a team that not only inspires our Eagles to fly, but to soar!

Thea Bowman Leadership Academy is a great place for children of all ages. My daughter attended the school from 5th grade to graduation. I was afraid to send her to public school because she was a special needs child. Thea Bowman welcomed my child, educated and looked out for her. The Thea Bowman faculty, staff, and students are a family of wonderful people who have helped me grow into the educator I am today. Thea Bowman Leadership Academy will always hold a special place in my heart.💗

I have been a staff member at Thea Bowman Leadership Academy since the beginning. We started out with a great staff and admin team and have had our ups and downs for the past transitional years but I feel we are truly on our way back to becoming the best school in Gary, IN. once again. We have a fresh dedicated staff and an admin team that have mixed echoes of the past with expectations of the future to make a perfect learning environment. Our students have success stories that never get told, only the bad stories seems to get out but I assure you there are many more successes than there are failures.

I can honestly say I love this school, the amazingly super dope educators and staff, and the supportive environment. The scholars attending TBLA are by far the best students in the area!

I’ve had an excellent experience volunteering for Thea Bowman Leadership Academy. TBLA is a terrific school. I really appreciate the teachers and staff at TBLA. They have made learning fun for their students. There’s a stronger importance placed on academics and it is nice to see the impact that it is having on many students.
