(March 18, 2022, 11:23 am)An amazing place to visit. Right off Interstate 80/94. It is a nice place centered around hotels, restaurants, a beautiful lake & walk paths that are spectacular year round. Their seasonal events are a must stop on any road trip. One can get hundreds of information about places, events, Regional/State history to include beautiful Lake Michigan, Local, State, National Reserves/Parks/Cabins, handmade Amish quilts/goods down State, Indy Children's Museum, old Victorian homes hotels/Airb&b, Michael Jackson/Jackson home in Gary, Crown Point Jail where Dillinger was held, James Dean,singer Deniece Williams hometowns all over Indiana and parts of Illinois to Michigan: fishing/venues /museums/recreation/amusement water parks/ festivals and Local, State, National Historical famous/Registered sites. It's a safe, family friendly place with a very nice gift shop area.
If you choose to make the Lake County Convention Center and the hotel near by as part of your vacation itinerary, it's only a few miles from HardRock Casino off Burr exit, Munster Center for Visual & Performing Arts,the Hammond Arts Community, Wicker Park and hundreds of Northwest, Indiana spots. Hop on I-80/94 and zip for a day trip in Chicago. -
