My son has always struggled in school with a B/C average. Since coming to this school, he is now at a 3.81 GPA!!! Any encounter with the staff has always been a positive experience. Far better than the assigned IPS school!
The school is amazing and a much better choice for the area, but the bussing needs major improvement. My childs bus had 3 to a seat and several students standing. Needless to say, I drove my child all last year. The uniform shirts are also pretty expensive.
I have never met a more caring group of educators than those educators who teach at Indianapolis Lighthouse Charter School East! Education has made several changes in the last past 3 years and these educators have embraced those changes and are prepared to ensure that scholars in our community are college ready. Their restorative justice approach to handling discipline is a great way to help ensure our scholars stay in school and in the classroom so that they do not slip through the cracks. We need more educational institutions and educators who have such a passion for the scholars that we serve!
This school is the definition of a community center. They opened specifically to unite the east side and support students with a unified home. They focus so much of their time on more than just academics. They develope scholars socially and emotionally. Preparing scholars for college through arts infused instruction.
