It is great to see how the Monticello community pulled together after such a devastating disaster, and this memorial is a firm reminder of how close this community is, and shows not only respect for those who lost their lives on that day, but the strength of those who survived, and their commitment to move forward as a community.

Memorial in honor of the hundreds of Joplin, MO citizens who lost their lives during the May 22, 2011 tornado. [Maureen, 06/07/2016]. The park includes several tornado monuments. An unofficial memorial, a front yard tree stump carved into a winged cross, is nearby on West 24th St.
