Nice people and friendly neighbors.
The preaching is fantastic. Rev. Smith preaches biblically-sound, Christ-centered, rigorously exegetical redemptive-historical sermons that move both the mind and the heart. The fellowship is excellent. There is a good mix of ages and backgrounds. This is without a doubt the best Reformed church (and probably the best church of any denomination) in the Kansas City area.
Since I began attending Park Woods, I have learned so much from the excellent teaching and preaching that it is hard to know where to begin...I have learned that the Bible is not just a collection of stories designed to help us live a more moral life but to strengthen and grow us in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and in fellowship with other believers who together are on a pilgrimage/new exodus to the celestial city, the New Jerusalem, where we will live forever in the presence of Jesus our King in a state of sinless perfection...cleansed and forgiven...how the overriding theme of the Bible is the Kingdom of God...how the Old and New Testaments are necessary to interpret each other…how all the types, shadows, and covenants of the Old Testament point to Jesus Christ and the fulfillment of his work...and so much more...like the disciples on the road to Emmaus, my heart continues to be warmed, thrilled, encouraged and my faith strengthened by what I am hearing and learning from the Word. I would highly recommend Park Woods Presbyterian Church!
I have found great satisfaction in learning how to read and study and think about the Bible at Park Woods. The Christian faith is taken seriously, and we learn how to worship and admire our Lord Jesus Christ. Then we strive to encourage and love one another as we travel this journey of faith together.
This is a church whose life is centered upon Jesus Christ as he is made known in Holy Scripture. The congregation worships God reverently and modestly. The adult Sunday schools stimulate the mind as they encourage hearts. The pastor's preaching is characterized by the careful handling of the Biblical text. It is a great place to learn the Word of God and it's doctrines.
