River Road BBQ

A great BBQ spot I love to visit when I'm in town. Simple straightforward menu. I usually get the chopped chicken and it's great!

Some of the better barbecue in Louisville. Most is mixed in with the sauce, theirs is not and sauce is provided on the side. This is a major bonus for me, but I just want my smoked pork to taste like smoked pork and not barbecue sauce - if you're a fan of the mixed in situation YMMV. The smoker is going out front so you know the meats are being smoked and not just oven roasted. Dings for: It is a bit pricey, but they also give you more than enough meat for a sandwich. Also, the staff tried to give my food to another customer, who opened the box and grabbed something from it before giving it to me. I asked them to remake it and they did.

Pretty solid entry for BBQ. The brisket was flavorful but ultimately was very tough. Idk if it was yesterday's brisket or if this is normal. The ribs were fantastic. Id like to come in and just get a slab of those. I enjoyed the BBQ sauce as well. Some places make it too sweet, they didn't have that problem.

My first time here. A friend highly recommended it. I have to say I agree with her. The employees were very personable. I ask the young man if the rib was tender because my mom has dentures. He actually went back and got a rib and cut off bones that were super tender. I was very impressed that he would do that for me/her. The food was delicious and they give you large portions. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be going back.
