(September 26, 2021, 10:50 am)New Wine was there for me 9 years ago when I flooded out in Hurricane Isaac. I cannot tell you how many times I found myself there, either dealing with Fema, getting much needed supplies or just going there to get some much needed empathy. Now 9 years later, I have flooded out again in Hurricane Ida! New Wine fellowship is there again. The 2 people who helped my son get all the trash out to the street and gut the house are no longer with us. I started reaching out to groups that were doing this on a volunteer basis. After speaking with New Wine I found most groups were using the same list. Every group I reached out to kept in touch with me. One was ready to gut but my adjuster wanted me to hold up a day till he could go there. I forgot who contacted me but New Wine was there as usual. They were going to set up to come to my home when my next door neighbor called and said she had people to do our house the next am. I went and it was a group of Mormons who did some work for us once before. As I was dialing New Wine to let them know I had a crew and not to deny someone else in need holding my spot, the wonderful Dr Jordan was dialing me to set up to do my home. They are as wonderful and as caring as I remembered. Not one phone message took more than a few hours to be returned. I honestly don’t know how they do it, but as a lifelong Catholic, these people are the example of practicing their religious principles. What they teach, they actually do. During 2 separate disasters, New Wine was my lifeline in more than one way and I want everyone to know about them. They won’t let you down. Thank you New Wine Fellowship. I will never forget you and I will pay it forward.
