  The Visitors Center has a wealth of information about this area including artifacts, pictures and information placards. The history of this area is rich and colorful. It talks about the sugar plantation, Native Tribes and so on.

  One of the nicest and neatest state park we've been to, especially in Louisiana. Super friendly staffs at Visitot Center. She's very knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommened.

  This is a big park, close to an urban area, which usually can be a little dicey because of zealous masses seeking a break from their daily routines. The few negatives for me was that I felt that it was a little crowded, esp around the bathhouses. Seemed like trailers and vehicles everywhere. Also a little noisy, although most kindly respected the quite time. Fortunately the list of positives is much longer and made it an extremely enjoyable stay. Big enough to easily find a little peaceful solitude. Amazing sunsets on a more amazing lake. Sites away from the bathhouses offered good privacy and in my experience the primitive sites are on par with the best. Wonderful trails and boardwalks. Friendly staff. Deer feeding under giant moss laden trees. Playgrounds. And a nice beach although too cold for it in my Nov stay. So much to see and do. I'm really glad that I dropped in for a weekend and definitely worth the visit. Hope you enjoy.

  I've never been to a place that hosted so many visitors, yet, felt so peaceful. The park was beautiful, full of wildlife and smiling faces. The park, beach, bathrooms, showers, and trails were clean! The other visitors were pleasant and respectable. This is a great park for families and couples. The trees were breathtaking and the trails were easy adventures. We stayed overnight, but this is a great place for daycations as well.

  Stayed here on our way to Disney World. We arrived a few minutes after the park office closed but the park rangers were nice enough to stay a little late and still help us register which was so awesome! The RV pull through sites are very big and accessible. The bathrooms were great! They are heated and kept very clean! The park is right on the lake, has beautiful scenery and plenty of wildlife (we saw quite a few deer). We definitely enjoyed our stay!
