  Ground Control is awesome! I signed up on their website and was called later that day by Ryan. After talking with Ryan for a few minutes I could tell that he genuinely cared about his clients and their success. It can be intimidating to walk into a new gym and Ryan and the members immediately put me at ease. Everyone was welcoming and helpful. The class was structured well and had me hooked right off the bat. I highly recommend Ground Control!

  Amazing gym, great instructors who are genuinely concerned with your progress, and really know their stuff. The people who train there are even awesome, never have I felt more welcome at a martial arts gym. Also very clean, always feel very comfortable on the mats.

  This is a great place to train. I originally trained in the old Baltimore location and as soon as they opened Ground Control Owings Mills I switched to this facility since I lived in the area. You get great instruction, a large clean facility and a great environment for training. Everyone is friendly and ego-less and training often times feels like a group of friends getting through it together. No one is ever trying to hurt you or prove anything. I can’t think of one person I met here that I didn't genuinely like.
  
  I moved to Washington DC a year ago and no longer train there but often times I stop by when I am in the area to see my old training partners and coaches. I have trained in 4 different schools since moving to DC and my experiences at some of those other schools really emphasized how great Ground Control in Owings Mills really is. It’s a great place to train whether you are beginner or a colored belt. You will get tapped but there is no ego and everyone is friendly and eager to help you grow. Ryan Mackin really takes his time to help each student improve their games and really cares about everyone’s growth and progress in the sport. Ryan’s wrestling experience is also crucial for those students who want to compete because he can help prepare you both mentally and physically for competition if that’s the route you want to take. There is no pressure to compete and everyone gets attention regardless. That is not the case in some other places.
  
  They also have a kids program that is earning many medals at local tournaments and I believe they started a woman’s only self-defense program as well. Those programs are new and I don’t know much about them but I can tell you that their instruction, level of knowledge and atmosphere is top notch and if you live in the area you should at least check this place out. You won’t be disappointed.

  I've been training here since March of 2009 when it first opened and I can't say enough good things about this place. Great community, lots of mat space, high quality instruction and equipment. I've been to a lot of gyms and in terms of culture, quality, and helping you reach your goals, there is no place better.
