One of several good spots on the previously desolate culinary wasteland that was Rt.1 in Hyattsville. This unassuming little restaurant delivers more in both taste and service than first impressions would suggest. A large menu of central American dishes, with several Dominican specialties. The Mofongo was excellent, and the succulent Sancocho stew (with chicken & beef) was flavorful and extremely filling. Reasonable prices too. And the service was warm and friendly. (Helps if you can speak a little Spanish.) Don't drive by! Stop and taste!
Dear Reader:
If you are looking for a home cooked meal this is it. It reminded me of my mothers cooking. The food is flavorful and rich in taste. They did a good job at keeping it healthy too by not adding to too much oils like many other places do. It’s a gem I highly recommend if and when looking for good authentic and ethnic food.
Hola,
Les quiero decir que la comida estuvo fresca y deliciosa. Muchas gracias por hacerme acordar de la comida que mi mami hacía cuando vivía con ella. Me gusto muchísimo y voy a regresar.
This place is small. Only 4 tables and counter with bar seating. Our order included empanadas (white cheese there's a difference), maduros, sopa de mondongo (tripe) served with white rice, chuletas ordered with choice white rice and beans, lastly Pollo guisado served with choice of Moro. For drink jugos frescos chinola (passion fruit) & Tamarindo.
If there's something on the menu you really want i.e. sancocho CALL AHEAD to check availability.
