I contacted John to do some work on my new used boat. From the moment I walked into the office, the experience was top notch. John walked me through every step and even went above and beyond to make sure I knew how everything worked and how I can maintain the boat for many years to come. As a local business owner I strive to do my best by all of my customers. Many of our customers have near new very well cared for boats and they generally last a long time without failure with proper by the book maintenance. With the rising cost of new outboard engines older engines have a much higher perceived value. This does not change the fact that a 1995 engine is 22 years old and may be degrading in many areas. For this reason KIM will no longer accept any work on heavily corroded engines, engine with expensive repairs that would exceed the value of the engine or from folks without realistic expectations from an old engine. Please for your own sake have your new purchase properly surveyed before you plop down your hard earned money. Our experience at Kent Island Marine was excellent. We have an aging boat that required expert attention. While I live 7 hours away, I could tell through the whole process that our boat was in great hands with John. We were always updated with progress made, and informed of options. John was crystal clear and honest about what needed to be done and why. Kent Island Marine went above and beyond expectations and I would highly recommend them.
