(August 29, 2018, 10:59 am)Lock 39 is a beautiful area. I use it as a marker for when I run. It's well maintained and gives a wonderful example of the stonework of the old locks of the canals. The iron is still in place but the gates are gone, but there are stone wall ruins along behind and into the landscape. Maryland law is very strict about hunting for souveniers so just explore and enjoy. Please clean up after yourselves and haul out anything you bring in. (maybe any extra you might see too.)
