    The volunteers and rangers are very nice and committed to providing the visitors with an excellent experience. The boat rides are free and the interpretation of the lives of the people that lived on the canal is very informative. Great place to visit to wet your toes in quite a bit of history.

    The staff here are very friendly and knowledgeable. They will answer any question that you have enthusiastically, and will walk you through interactive displays. This is a nice place to spend an afternoon for people of all ages who enjoy history.

    Always fun to step back in history! Love visiting lock 44! My husband's grandfather tended lock there!

    We took a 40 minute boat tour of a section of the C& O Canal. It was interesting, informative and free. You need to call ahead to reserve a spot.

    Visit if you'd like some history about this little Maryland town. Sitting right by the canal, the park headquarters office has a lot of available parking. There are public restrooms, too. As of 5/26/18, the rehab of the aqueduct is still taking place, but there is no impact if you are traveling south on the towpath. It's a short hike to lock 100, and you can even take a boat ride down the canal now!
