  I made the decision to start learning to play guitar at the age of 50 and had so much doubt due to feeling like I just couldn't understand music for most of my life. I knew the right teacher would be a crucial component and so I did my research. I contacted Chris because I loved his technical skill, the style of music he seemed to enjoy, and quite honestly his location. My plan was to give him a try and if we didn't hit it off or I found that this wasn't going to be my thing then I could always look to someone else or check it off the list of things I've tried in life. My entire plan was blown up on my first lesson. Chris immediately erased all of my fears and made me feel comfortable and he was confident that he could teach me what I was hoping to learn. 7 months has gone by and it has gotten better every single lesson. Excellent teachers are not just the people who can play well. If that was the case then Bill Belichik wouldn't have any wins in football. The best teachers can break down complex ideas and make them easy to understand, they can assess where you are at and modify their lessons to fit you as an individual, and they never stop learning themselves. Chris is a true professional who has honed his skills both as a player and more importantly as a teacher. I have shown up early to lessons and listened to him easily discuss complex musical theory with veteran players, encouraged young talents to be more creative, and relieved many student's fears about their abilities. Multiple friends of mine have taken lessons with "famous guitar teachers" yet have complained that their teacher seems to just be waiting for the lesson to be over or they feel like they are wasting the teacher's time. If you want a teacher who inspires you, who cares about your progress, who cares about how he teaches, and makes you feel like it's the best money you have ever spent, I encourage you to contact Chris. I guarantee you will not be disappointed. You will have hired an exceptionally talented player who has an obvious system to his teaching which he adapts to his student's style and abilities while providing both inspiration mixed with a realistic approach to the effort needed to improve.   Chris is great--I appreciate how he tailors my lessons based on the styles of music I'm interested in playing rather than default Guitar 101 standards. I couldn't be happier with the progress I've made in eight months with Chris. Highly recommended instructor with flexible hours and a convenient location.
