We had moved many times and finally settled in Acton, now nearly 15 years ago. The people at UCCB warmly welcomed us the first time we visited. We felt positive energy then. We still feel that same energy today as we explore as a congregation how to live our vision and how to renovate the buildings and outdoor spaces accordingly to be truly welcoming. The church continues to be an open and affirming place and an anchor for our family, both for us as parents and as our 3 kids grew up. As teenagers, they liked the 'affirmation' process to reflect on what they actually believed. The youth mission trips were definitely a highlight. It is a progressive faith community that embraces "No matter who you are, or where you are on life's journey, you are welcome here...". I treasure the community for deep and safe nourishing conversations that allow me as an individual, mom, partner and community member to wrestle with personal questions and hard societal topics, for example the issue of racial justice. I learned to listen more deeply and continue to grow in my faith. For me, it is essential to be part of an outward looking church that puts faith into action...Yes, I could go on about camaraderie, the merrie Christmas Fair, memorable faith moments and gatherings, the meaningful prayer shawls that I can share with friends or family in crisis ...Just know that you are welcome!
