Huron Academy Utica Campus

Huron Academy is one of the most welcoming environments for incoming students or staff. The staff are very friendly and always willing to go an extra step beyond what is needed to make sure a student succeeds. The  students are very friendly and respectful. If there is any type of problem, the staff takes care of it promptly and makes sure it is resolved. One reason I enjoy teaching at Huron Academy is that the staff feels like family. I worked between both buildings and the feeling was the same in both. Everyone was so welcoming and helped me answer all of my questions. The students were always working hard and trying their best. I would highly recommend this school for any parents who are looking for a nurturing and welcoming environment that focuses on education for their child.

I have been a teacher at Huron Academy since 1999. I enjoy teaching at Huron Academy because of the student and the staff members. I feel like I am part of the family. I feel that I am able to use my creativity to reach all of my students. My Special Education students are included in the activities and classes within the school.

One of my greatest joys was when the graduating the Seniors came back to see us and we were able to see how successful they have become. One of our students with Autism currently owns his own business!!

The reason that I enjoy teaching at Huron Academy is because of the awesome colleagues and the family feel that always rushes the halls! I feel as if my team always has my back, and any problem I may have, there are always multiple people to discuss solutions with! I love sharing ideas, coming together, sharing jokes, and laughing along the way. I am very fearful of working in an atmosphere that isn’t as friendly as this one! I love it here!
The activity most loved that I taught this year was the butterfly life cycle! I loved observing the growth and the changing of the caterpillars into butterflies! When their chrysalis hatched it was awesome to see the butterflies expand their wings and finally fly away. I found an activity that we can look through microscopes at the caterpillars and feel them, then measure them and record. We also compared and contrasted the butterfly with the caterpillar. It was super cool!
A special moment that reaffirmed my commitment is when I noticed a young student practicing more than she had to in math to make sure that she did well on the test and to make sure that she learned her facts! She always tries and puts forth best effort makes me feel that she actually wanted to!

Huron Academy has many wonderful things happening! There are an amazing team of teachers that go above and beyond daily to meet student needs. I have seen first hand this staff work tirelessly on making not only engaging activities for students but generate fun events for students too. From educational escape rooms, plays, and read-ins, to dances, field trips, and tech days, Huron Academy is a great place to be! I am thrilled to be a part of this amazing team!

We are so pleased with this amazing school! We chose to send our children there four years ago and absolutely love the staff and families that come here. The middle school environment is small and safe and you can really feel the love the teachers give the students. They work so hard to help our children grow. I would recommend this school to anyone!
