  This library might not be the biggest but it has just enough to get lost in. I've been coming here for years and have never had any remotely bad occurrences. The staff is amazing, everyone is really friendly and really wants to help you have a love for the place. I personally love that there is no small limit to how many books you can rent, and because of that I've rented out 30 books on one trip. Everything is nicely organized and I can find all my favorite books in no time. When I was younger and less busy we would come to all the programs, including the lego club, summer reading (which is really fun and encourages you to keep reading and not just play video games all summer), game nights and all of my siblings and I have done story time! The library is truly one of my favorite places. I love that theres no book shame, as someone who rents a large amount of books (usually around 20 books at a time) I'm glad theres nobody there that makes people feel like they need to be able to rent out more than one book or that they shouldn't rent out a lot of books. What else to say... I really just love how interactive the library is, it truly has something for everyone. Want a book on kids trying to escape a giant maze alive where they have monsters chasing them? They got it. Want a STEM kit, or something to do over the week that's not reading? They got it. Need to get studying done? They got computers. Need a specific book that you have been trying to read for 4 months and never completely got through? They will be able to borrow it Just for you. This library really just feels like a second home. And again I love the staff!

  It is also a Community Center so we seniors played Bingo with folks from Oak Street Health. It was great fun mingling with the two groups.

  I have been going to Garden City Library for about 2 years. The staff is comprised of 9 extremely competent, knowledgeable and compassionate individuals. They are second to none! The director, James, has tremendous leadership skills. He doesn't talk down to the librarians. He works with them side-by-side. He has truly discovered the secrets of leadership and demonstrates this day-after-day. The other 8 members of the staff are also outstanding in the performance of their duties. They are knowledgeable, patient, and have extraordinary people skills. They especially show a great deal of empathy toward children, seniors, and the physically and mentally challenged. It's not just a job to them - it's a calling. I look forward to going to this library because I know the staff will make me feel welcome and make my visit a positive experience. I find it especially phenomenal that they do it all on a shoe-string of a budget in an undersized building. They are truly, "The Keepers of the Flame!"
