My Mother was in the rehab facility for about two weeks, she was 95 years old and unable to recover from her health problems. She and I spent the last days of her life in this wonderful place. The staff couldn't have been more caring, gentle, and loving for my mom. In the days before her death. The amazing nurses, aids and rehab would sit with her when they could when I was not able to be there. Unfortunately I was not there when she died, but the staff that was available made a point to be there when she took her last breath. I cannot say enough about these lovely, beautiful people that cared for my Mother. I sure hope that the management understands the great staff they have.
An elderly friend who was like a mother to me stayed here for a couple of months after a serious illness that left her unable to care for herself at home. Because I’m a retired nurse I watched her care like a hawk and I felt she seemed to have received good care. The nursing assistants seemed to treat her well even though she could get a little stubborn at times, well many times. The physical therapists were outstanding. I could tell they enjoyed their job and the elderly clientele. The minus 1 star is for an R.N. who was disrespectful to me and worst of all to my friend. Ilse was from Germany originally and had an accent. This nurse caller her a “sauerkraut” many times thinking this was funny. It was not. I don’t think this nurse enjoyed her job at all. My friend did pass away because she was so ill. They acted appropriately and punctually when she needed end of life care at a hospital.
My Fiance, started working here a little while ago. It was her first NA position after schooling.. So she was a little overwhelmed at first.. But now that she has learned her responsibilities, she loves it. She loves working with the residents and always comes home in a good mood. She has had family members work here in the past as well & they also loved working with such excellent and helpful staff members. Who were happy to help train her & make her feel welcome, instead of making her feel like a burden. She loves her job, & as for past employees, who haven't done their job right, we really don't think that the entire establishment should have a bad overall review just because of a few bad apples. When my time comes or my parents end up needing to go into long term care. PARK RIVER ESTATES is the only place I would be comfortable with them being in. & i hope everybody else would also be willing to look passed a couple bad experiences, & focus on all of the great cares that have outweighed the bad by far. Thanks for reading.
I have been the administrator here for almost 17 years. My 5 star rating matches the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services overall rating of 5 stars. I have set very high standards for all employees since we are here for the residents and the residents are not here for us. Some employees don't meet our standards and are no longer with us. The interesting thing is that each month, we receive a call from 1-2 employees who worked with us previously wanting us to rehire them. We tell them "no" since they did not meet our high standards the first time. Excellent employees do perform better working with other excellent employees. We receive feedback from residents and families that they are glad that we are here to care for them. We even receive calls from residents that have gone home due to our excellent therapy program informing us of an upcoming hospital stay and wanting to come back to Park River Estates Care Center when they are discharged. We have people come to us for the first time because they heard from a neighbor that we do provide excellent care.
I believe that if you or a loved one needs care now or in the future, visit us so you can see first hand that our residents do come first. I would also encourage visits to other places for the basis of comparison. Deciding where to receive care in any setting can be stressful. The more informed you are, the better you will feel.
