  I am writing another review for my second child that I recently had here. In between my children, I experienced a miscarriage at 8 weeks that when I passed my baby it coincided as well with a prenatal appointment. Really heartbreaking but so grateful to be able to be there and have the support I did. I have so much love for these folks. When my daughter came into the world, it was surprisingly much more painful and difficult for me than that with my son a couple years ago. I think partially just because of my emotional state I couldn’t relax. Having recently had a miscarriage, I truly believe my physical discomfort directly related to my mental. But I never once felt actual fear because I had the comfort of people I truly love and trust. They took absolutely amazing care for me and there was such patience, kindness, and teamwork. I had some complications after the birth where I had an extensive amount of bleeding and began to pass out. They held on to us for some extra time and the aftercare follow up at home for that first week was so reassuring and thorough. I know that my babies are LOVED by these people and that I am as well. I live close and honestly already am excited to swing by with treats this summer for these folks because of the gratitude I have. Much love to Roots.

  If you are considering an "out of hospital" birth at all, you need to have your baby here. The midwives here provide the most holistic care I've experienced anywhere in the Twin Cities. I would trust any of them to deliver my baby any day. Besides that, the care you get after having your baby is unparalleled. They provide several home visits, and a couple of group postpartum appts, all well before your 6 week checkup. If you have questions in between appts, they are great at answering messages or phone calls very quickly. I simply cannot speak highly enough of this place. My birth here was as good as a birth can get; basically my "dream" birth.

  There is a feeling you get when walking into Roots Community Birth Center that is hard to describe. It's a beautiful combination of the place and people that make this birth center truly something special. Every part of Roots is intentionally designed to build the confidence in anyone who walks into the space and interacts with the expert and wonderful team. As a doula and photographer, I always feel confident knowing I'll be integrated into the birth team so lovingly when I work with Rebecca and the other amazing midwives. I see the same confidence and ease in my clients, as they're surrounded by support that builds a sense of power and purpose in themselves that is truly something to behold. If it sounds like my review of Roots is fantastical, it's because that is the kind of place this birth center is. Fantastic is how this team makes everyone who steps in their door feel. There is a special magic around the care and birth that happens at Roots, you really must experience for yourself.

  I cannot say enough good things about Roots. I've had the privilege of working with their staff on many occasions as a birth photographer and doula. Everyone I've seen in action is so compassionate, passionate, kind, gentle, wise, and supportive. Across the board, my clients have loved their birthing experiences, and I'm always thrilled when someone who plans to deliver at Roots hires me because I know they'll be in great hands. I have yet to reach the "having babies" phase of my life, but when I do, I'm calling Roots.

  Our birth with Roots, from the first day to the last in-home postpartum appointment, was absolutely phenomenal. This was our first child and the entire experience was new for us. We wanted a more holistic and natural birth while still assisted by trained and educated professionals. The entire Roots staff made us feel welcomed, cared for, and most importantly--heard. Their center provided many opportunities for free educational classes and opportunities to meet other families going through the same process we were. Every appointment felt personal and included extra time to focus on talking through our questions, concerns, and the emotional feelings of the pregnancy and preparing for the delivery. The birthing experience was more than I could have hoped for. I was surrounded by support and understanding in a warm and comforting environment. I felt that everyone advocated for my best interest and the wishes I had shared when the situation arose. I never felt scared of birth, I went in to it feeling fully prepared and ready. Extra ready, because this baby was was almost a full two weeks late! My labor was long but beautiful and intensely personal. We can't say enough how thankful we are for Roots helping us guide our healthy boy into this world ❤️. It is an experience we will never take for granted and if fortunate enough, would return again!
