Gotta get here early if you want to have pastries or cheesy croissants. They sold out fast. Otherwise great bakery. Great staff friendly folks. I hope you took my suggestion seriously by putting peanuts on my donuts. Thank you. Thank you.
"Do not lose your desire to eat: every day I eat my way into a state of well-being and eat myself away from illness; I have eaten my way into my best thoughts....If one keeps on eating, everything will be all right." A friend who works in public radio told me Kierkegaard himself wrote those words in a letter to a friend. The great philosopher went on to recommend donuts as the world's one and only panacea.
A few months ago I was fasting as a way to truth-test Kierkegaard's words. Thirty-seven hours into the fast I began to wonder, "When and what will I eat?" At 3:00 AM on the third day a vision arrived that shook my brain with the authority of a high-summer thunderclap. I was standing on the surface of a lake and howling up at the solstice moon. A reply came from the cattails along the shore, but I can't share those words as they fall into the realm of private religion.
The vision departed and at dawn I resolved to walk to the nearest donut shop, which happened to be La Boulangerie Marguerite. The coffee was fresh and hot, and I sat down to eat my way into well-being, into my best thoughts, into everything I most wished to be.
Picked up some donuts this morning, cases where pretty full around 10am on a Friday. My favorite was the apple fritter or the croissant where you bit into the ham and cheese. Overall, great donuts, would definitely be back, might have to grab a cupcake next time!
Great local bakery. By 10:45 on a Thursday there were not any croissants or donuts available but they did have cupcakes, cakes, cookies, and bars available. The $2 sugar cookie was great and all of the bakery items were beautifully decorated. Will come back to try the other options.
