Prior to public service, Weik had an established 11 year career in medical device manufacturing as a regulatory compliance specialist; employed by Medtronic Corp. (Cardiac Surgery/Neuromodulation Divisions), for six years before winning a special election in 2008, to serve the citizens of District 5 in Woodbury.
