As a southern boy who grew up in the panhandle of Florida not all that far from New Orleans, I have to say that this food was outstanding. We decided to look for a soul food restaurant on our way through Kansas City and the Southern Kitchen popped up on google maps. We got to the restaurant out 815pm and it was empty which was alarming. This did not deter us from placing our order though and the host was super friendly and helpful. I ordered a chicken and shrimp combo basket with red beans and rice as well as Mac and cheese. The food came out timely and was hot and flavored well. The red beans were awesome. I have to say this place is a hidden gem in the Kansas City area and more of you should give it a try. Awesome owners and very friendly. Thanks for the southern hospitality!
