I took Heidi's 3 Day Microblading Class last year in November. She also offers additional classes for specific services such as lip blush, eyeliner, powder/ombre and so much more. Before I registered I spoke with Heidi and asked her "What does after the program support look like?" Heidi told me that after the course she is there to help with any questions, and even said I could bring in my first few models outside of class to her shop for supervision. The class was great and she kept it very realistic that this 3 day course is just the beginning of our training in this industry and that we should be taking other trainings, practicing on latex daily, and practicing mapping on friends and family as well. She has an assistant and a Color Theory Artist who gives you their phone number and email, and says "call or text any time" for additional support. She is a big proponent of taking additional training.
Apprenticeship: Hedi was very up front about the level of work required to complete the program, the time dedication it would take, and that she would be there to make sure we succeed. Heidi has two very successful shops, one here and one in Vegas. She opens up two weeks out of the month/ every month for Apprentices to take clients, and we have 3-4 months open schedule available to us to book/plan. It works out very well, as she offers late evenings during the week and weekends to accommodate all her students in the program.
I have learned so much more during this hands-on process, and it has solidified everything she taught us in class 10x over. There has never been a time where I asked for help, and it wasn't given. Over the last several months I have learned Lip Blush, Eyeliner, Powder/Ombre, Saline Removal, Lip Neutralization, Color Correction.... and day to day tips and tricks on how to provide my client the best level of service and answer their questions. I come a little early before every client and stay a little later if I can, just to absorb and shadow work- & not just Heidi, but the other Artists in the shop! We learn s much from one another 😊
You're asked to provide your practice latex for Heidi to review, to be professional at all times, clean, take out trash, put together your tray before and after each service (so it's ready for the next artist), restock inventory and put together kits, assist clients (yours or not!), check clients in/out, numb clients as they walk in (yours or not!) there is a uniform requirement (all black scrubs). Help other artist when you’re hands are free; ie: if they need a product or tool, if their client needs anything, take photos of artists and share them with the group for people to use for advertising. If you take additional trainings while in the program you are required to do a specific # of models for that service.
A notary comes in to help complete your paperwork that is sent off to the state and when the state receives it Heidi emails you their recognition of being an apprentice under her/her tattoo shop. They help you fill out the forms, and even provide Square for check out to help track your services.
Cleanliness is high priority, and we are constantly wiping things down. To be honest, it’s all very simple stuff and it instills great habits from the beginning for when you’re off on your own.
You are responsible for providing your models, but they do give people clients too. And let’s be honest, if you can’t get models at a discounted price through the door at a well-established shop that is beautiful and has a TON of reviews- you’ll never be able to get real clients at full price on your own! Heidi does a TON of advertising for the apprentices on her pages- and there are usually 3-4 clients a week up for grabs by the group to help fill their service count.
I am sure I am leaving something out, but I tried my best to give a very clear picture of what the program includes and what is expected.
Absolutely amazing classes and the apprenticeship has been the best thing i have ever done. Heidi Is very knowledgeable and professional. She doesn’t take any bs and doesn’t tolerate disrespect. She makes sure the salon stays professional. We have an amazing group of apprentices that all do fabulous work! Highly recommend for all services and training!
Apprenticing with Heidi Lynne at Dangerously Chic has been one of the most self rewarding and exciting goals I have established. Once accomplished, I will be a licensed Tattoo Artist specializing in Permanent Makeup.
A year ago I was (still am) working from home during the pandemic, not knowing what life would be like rushing back to. I dealt with so many emotions and analyzed “what is really worth rushing back to?” Well, the answer is MYSELF!! I wanted to really focus and prioritize myself and my goals and what makes ME happy.
So here I am, today, a certified permanent makeup artist / tattoo apprentice... working HARD towards my goal. I get emotionally happy when I really think about it. What makes it more gratifying is knowing how happy I have made my clients. I’m not only changing MY life... but I could potentially be changing someone else’s. It’s the little things that can make us feel confident.
I have poured out continuous “Thank Yous” to Heidi for being a compassionate mentor and to guiding me along the way with patience and professionalism.
From client now an apprentice ... I highly recommend Heidi with Dangerously Chic for Permanent Makeup services and career !
