Hiking was amazing.. wasn't too hot either
This was a great, moderate hike. Very well maintained and partially paved. Plenty of nature to be seen. If you're just out for an easy hike make sure you stay on this trail. It links up with other trails that will quickly turn into unpaved, hilly, rustic and rocky trails. All the trails were well marked though. I personally went to explore and found some amazing spots off trail, because that's where life really happens 😉, but it's not for the faint of heart. Terrain was quite difficult in spots. Seen porta potties and a drinking fountain, but did not test functionality. Great family destination, plenty of room to run around. Picnic tables and grills. Pet friendly as long as they're leashed. Limited parking, but seemed like alot of turnover, so you probably wouldn't have to wait long for a spot. Overall, a great way to spend an afternoon.
Just under 2 miles, nice hike into the woods on a wide trail, no sound of cars.
Hiked on a mild day in mid November this trail was a nice break from life outside of the woods. It is just the right length for occasional hikers and families. There is one section of some incline that made me realize how out of shape I was but it was not undoable and I didn't need a break in the middle of it. The trail had changed a bit from creek erosion but staff have done a good job at marking where you're supposed to go in most spots. There is only one intersecting trail and the trail marker is a giant sign at that intersection. It is kind of a loop, you start on the street, hike up to an overlook or two, then hike back down to the street and walk a trail next to it back to your car. Nature center was open but short staffed for the holidays which is understandable. We did see a tiny southern redback salamander and a chunky groundhog. Remember to uproot and hang out to dry 3 bush honeysuckle every hike you take.
I recommend this trail and commend the caretakers for the width of the trail and work on taking out invasive species in most sections.
Beautiful walk this morning. Google has it marked as closed, but I checked the website and it didn't say anything about closures, so we took the chance and went. It was a perfect, quiet, scenic walk. Not much in the way of autum color change yet, but I bet it'll be even more beautiful in a couple of weeks. I highly recommend!
Went here for the first time after work since I heard it was shorter and I could fit it in before the sun went down. Beautiful trail, probably even better in the summer and especially fall. The first hill you hit either way you take the trail won't be the easiest. Going clockwise, the trail is dirt and rock then eventually turns to all paved. The whole place is beautiful and taken care of regularly. Difficulty wise, it's an easy-moderate trail and is 1.5 miles, and about another .25-5 miles back to the parking lot. I will always recommend this place to hike. It's pretty awesome.
