Very beautiful place with almost 5 miles of hiking trails and very nice ponds and waterfalls. The lodges and church and retreat center were also very beautiful as well. 5 star beauty. This was a great experience and much needed. Never been to a silent retreat so it took a little to get used to the silence, especially during the meals. Bring a good book or 2. Enjoy the silence and nature and get some rest. Food is also pretty decent but you can also bring your own. Recommend bringing some snacks but some are provided as well. Each lodge has its own microwave and fridge with cofffee and tea. Big thanks to Joe and Marlene Ricketts for the extreme generosity in building this very very beautiful place. Great idea!! You can dress very casual as well. I will be back for sure next year!! Also each participant will have their own private room with accommodations that are very beautiful and most often rustic with that’s grand lodge feel. Finally, the theme is from St Ignatious so it would be helpful to just get at least a basic idea of his teaching style and messages to better get a sense of whatever to expect which is very timely for our time. God Bless!!
The Stations are an emotional experience. I was awestruck by the powerful message my heart felt just looking at the detail of each Station, imagining Christ’s experience as we walked along the same distance he did for us.
This place is so neat. The shuttle service to the statues is very convenient. The grounds are so beautiful. The staff is all super nice.
The statues are absolutely breathtaking and the bridge on the trail is gorgeous with little waterfall streams. One of my favorite places to visit in Omaha.
To all my fellow extroverts out there - you too, can benefit from a silent retreat! I used to think I could never go on a silent retreat (I'm super talkative and highly highly extroverted), but the Lord is strong when we are weak. I had the most beautiful and peaceful weekend at Cloisters. Everything exceeded my expectations and I will (Godwilling) be back for many years to come.
