  My dad moved into Five Star Premier Residences of Reno a year and a half ago, and even/especially as his Parkinson's progresses, it has been a perfect place for him. So good in fact, that when my 98 year old mother-in-law needed to leave the family home and move into assisted living this January, Ceci at Five Star was our first call. Especially during this time of Covid-19, my wife and I have real peace of mind that both our parents are in the best and safest place they could possibly be.

  My father-in-law is a resident at Five Star and we are sure it has added years to his life! Prior to moving to Five Star, he lived alone in a small, mountain community in California in a 3-bedroom house. He had a lovely view of pine trees, and we were very touched when Ceci found a special room for him with a view of pine trees so he would feel at home. He has blossomed during the 3 years he's lived here. He plays on the bean bag baseball team, attends the morning exercise class and participates in mass on site on Sunday mornings. He's made new friends and reconnected with old ones from his past life in Reno. We are impressed with the restaurant, coffee shop and bar and always enjoy an opportunity to join him for dinner or lunch. One of the things that sold us on Five Star was that residents can eat at any time during the day at one or more venues, rather than having to eat at a scheduled time in a single dining room. The staff is wonderful! Many of them have worked here for years and are truly committed to the health, well-being and happiness of the residents. He has used and been pleased with the transportation services offered. It's a comfort to know that's available when we can't take him to an appointment or errand. It's also comforting that they all know his routine and if he's missing, we get a call either from a resident or staff.

  I have had the pleasure of working at Five Star Premier Residences of Reno for over 13 years. As the Director of Resident Care, I help all of our Independent Living residents (and their families) to navigate any issues they may need help with, learn our local community resources and much more. In my position I get to personally know all of our many residents and their family members. We do take pride in the feeling of become what feels like a big extended family. I think that’s why we have such happy residents and so many engaged, long-term team members. It’s a great environment and just feels like home to us all.

  My first thought when my sister and I walked into the lobby of Five Star Residences was "my mom will love this". The lobby has vaulted ceilings with wood beams and a wide-open feel. To the right, above the welcome desk, I could see a book-lined room with comfortable reading chairs and to my left...a coffee bar. The staff at the welcome desk is cheerful and helpful...Debbie is a joy anytime I come by. Celia made the process of moving in simple and easy.
  
  The residents love "happy hour" in the piano lounge (which serves some of the best fish and chips I have ever tasted) and I always enjoy all the conversations and interactions of the residences. This is not a place that houses a group of tired, lonely, people. We often have dinner with my mom. The formal dining room also has an amazing menu and will deliver a tray to the residence's room if requested.
  
  My mom's apartment is bright and has plenty of room. She has a beautiful balcony where she can garden and the perfect size kitchen if she wants to cook for herself. The apartment is cleaned once a week which also simplifies things. The thing that sold the rest of our family was that we can call anytime, day or night if we can't get hold of her and a staff member will set our minds at ease.
  
  If you are looking for a great place to call home as a senior, I highly recommend Five Star Premier Residences.
