Alter Julie K PhD

Dr.Julie Alter is one of the best therapist in the state of NJ. Her approach to therapy is not just sitting and asking "how does that make you feel?" She really engages you, gets to know you and leads you to understand yourself. It is interactive. In the beginning, when you are unloading all your baggage, therapy is hard. Dr.Alter knows when to push and when to shift directions. Once you have unloaded all the baggage Dr.Alter engages with you through conversation, exercises, a little homework (ie. writing your anger). What I love about working with her as a patient is her honesty. She calls me out often when I am wrong or have misinterpreted a situation. In the same breath, she will then help me figure out different ways to view situations I have misinterpreted. I have learned so many healthy coping mechanism from Dr.Alter that have impacted my personal and professional lives. I highly recommend Dr.Alter as a psychologist if you are serious about doing the work to make positive changes in your life.
