I started seeing Dr. Wexler in the early 90's when I was in my mid 20's. I was there with my husband who was having a stomach issue. When I mentioned to Dr. Wexler that I had a VERY rare genetic GI disease, he took great interest and told me to stop back in his office in 3 days, he'd have something for me. (I was not the patient). I returned 3 days later and he had a stack of papers about my very rare disease. Research had only recently been done and I didn't have the latest information. Well, now I did. It was grave. I'd need a colonoscopy and endoscopy (and a bunch of other tests) EVERY OTHER YEAR for the rest of my life. I had already had some colonoscopies years earlier to diagnose my condition and of course no one likes them. To find out I'd be needing one every other year was upsetting, but as Dr. Wexler pointed out - it would be life saving. Our relationship began. He coordinated all my tests since then, giving me the results straight. There were always polyps removed. He'd always have me call him for the pathology report and he didn't sugar coat. He always gives well-thought out answers. A few years after I had twin sons and both inherited this GI disease. He began seeing them for it when they turned 5. They are now in their early 20's and he's done all the scopes etc. Dr. Wexler didn't just care about the GI aspect of my disease (it causes you to develop cancer in the breasts, pancreas, female organs, thyroid, and more). He made sure I had all my organs checked and kept everything coordinated. When I had to have my prophylactic hysterectomy at 45 I was sure he was on board, approving of the doctor and keeping the records. When I needed my gallbladder out he attended the surgery as a favor to me, though he wasn't required to (the surgeon was). Any major medical issues that come up in my life - I involve Dr. Wexler. I want his expert opinion on everything. I couldn't have asked for a better, more caring, more knowledgeable doctor who has gone WAY above his duty to save a life. Without him knowing about my rare disease, I would be dead by now. Without all the preventative testing he does, I surely would have suffered from cancer by now. If it wasn't for him caring enough to convince me to enter this life of awful tests, I wouldn't be here to write this. He keeps current on the research and informs me always. He's always pleasant, thorough, returns calls (but very late at night) and never rushes you. The staff is friendly. Liza has been there since the beginning and is still there - that's a long time for an Office Manager. To date Dr. Wexler has done at least 16 colonoscopies/endoscopes on me. He is always caring and puts you at ease. I could go on and on. You won't find a better GI doctor in the area. When I see him for an issue, I never go to another doctor for a second opinion - rather, when I see another doctor for an issue, I ask Dr. Wexler his opinion. When he doesn't know something he will refer you to the doctor/specialist that he thinks is best. REMEMBER - YOU are a big part of how your visit turns out. Ask the important questions, be polite, be patient, and follow the doctor's advice. You are your best health care advocate. You have 1 body - treat it right and follow the doctor's advice.

Dr. Wexler is the greatest. He is a very caring person, explains your results in a language you can understand, not always using medical terms. If you call for any problems you are having or your test results, he does call you back that same day. You may not get your call back until 9 PM, but you will get that call. Very personable, explains everything to you and answers all your questions. Not trying to rush you out. I couldn't say more for the office staff. They are knowledgeable, explain all of your procedure preps without making you think you are wasting their time. I recommend Dr. Wexler for anyone with gastroenterology problem. I have and still will recommend him to anyone. You can't get a better doctor ! If could give 10 stars, I would.
