Our family has always received nothing but the best care from Marty Rasmussen. I will admit having my reservations about having my children get into therapy so young but Marty put those reservations to rest immediately and we never looked back. My children have been attending therapy with Marry for 3 years and it all has been so necessary. I trust that Marty has a genuine interest in helping out families, but ultimately don’t what's best for the children. This can sometimes go against what parents want and can cause a lot emotion. Through all of that Marty has always been respectful and taken time to acknowledge those feelings of frustration but then redirect it to what’s best for the children. I as a father value and appreciate him and his staff he has as they always welcome my family. He was a court appointed therapist and would have never imagined we would have been sent somewhere so helpful.

I hope this review helps anyone with reservations about getting your kids and family the help they need make the choice to go get the help.

I attended family therapy with my two daughters during a very bitter and difficult custody battle. I found Mr. Rasmussen to be very professional, candid, and caring. He has a good demeanor, and is very good with children (mine were approximately 12 and 15). He is problem oriented, and I never felt he was just "going through the motions", or was more concerned about getting paid. I am skeptical of counseling as a whole, but not of Mr. Rasmussen's abilities and effectiveness. Good luck, and I hope this helps.

Marty is great. It really is that simple but I will share a little of my story. I have been seeing Marty for over a year now, seeking help for a highly contentious and volitile co-parenting situation with my son’s mother. It started as a court order and has evolved into a very looked forward to weekly session. That’s how bad my situation has been, seeing Marty every week to resolve issues I have been dealing with for over 12 years and in the court system for almost 3 years. Marty has been just as tenacious and involved as I have been in resolving these issues. Even going as far as to take personal calls outside of his office. I couldn’t say enough good things about Marty and the progress I have made not only in my situation but in myself as well. It’s disheartening and maddening, but not surprising, to see 2 very shallow and weak reviews from 2 very bitter individuals who seem to be out to attack and discredit a person who’s very profession and nature is to help people. To help the very people leaving such toxic reviews is ironic and sad. My heart goes out to them but discuss your grievances with your new therapist in private. These highly emotional situations that bring you to Marty in the first place are understandable and probably explain your behavior and comments but that doesn’t give you the right to try and discredited an honorable man doing his best to resolve YOUR issues. Remember....your kids are a reflection of you.

As cliché as it sounds, I can genuinely say that working with Marty Rasmussen both saved and changed my life. Marty led me through a very challenging period of my life and for that I will forever be grateful.

Marty is an incredibly gifted counselor and advisor; a remarkable therapist. He knew when to probe, when to listen, what questions were likely to get me thinking. He showed me how to release my worry and pain so that I could be free to work on changing my perspective and approach.

He has a wealth of experience and offered amazing strategies to better deal with my difficult past and my resultant circumstances. He taught me to see things in a completely new light which brought me hope and a calm sense of being throughout the sometimes difficult years of therapy.
Before I met Marty, I'd been through my fair share of counseling with poor results. Now, it has been almost 4 years since my therapy concluded and I'm extremely thankful for this positive experience to fall back on as I truly enjoy the rest of my life! If you're feeling lost, trapped, stuck, like you're drowning...do yourself a favor: please, go see Marty, commit to doing the work, and stick with it, even when it gets hard. You will be forever satisfied!

Words cannot begin to express how grateful I am to Marty at Rasmussen Counseling for helping me put my life back together after my wife died. 3 years ago I lost my wife of 10 years to a tragic accident; the crime scene of which I discovered in our home. It was Christmas-time, and we had a 7 month old baby and a 2 year old. I was utterly devastated. I needed help processing what had happened, the images I saw, and needed to learn how to cope with trauma, and adjust to the new normal of my life.

At the recommendation of friends, I found Marty at Rasmussen Counseling. Over a period of 1.5 years Marty worked with me weekly. He helped me frame the situation in a healthy perspective. He helped me develop coping skills. In some conversations, Marty's dose of frank honest opinion, helped steer me away from adopting a victim mentality. My situation did not, and still does not define me! A conversation that I had with Marty that I remember with crystal clarity, is when he asked me if I really even needed him anymore after 18months! Together, we had done so much productive work, that Marty believed that I was well enough to discontinue sessions! I think of it fondly as the day I was booted from therapy because I was healthy enough mentally and emotionally to be on my own again!

I whole-heartedly believe that because of Marty's expertise, honesty and patience, I have been able to not only live happily again, but thrive! I am happily remarried and my children are excelling in life! Choosing to work with Marty Rasmussen at Rasmussen counseling for any family counseling related matter would be a very wise decision with lasting results.
