I'm enjoying my treatment so much here than my previous experience in Schenectady area. Saw someone sort of complaining there were too many PhDs in the office... been at the MH treatment game for 33yrs and met my first MD in it on 17 years ago and sort of was questioning why I was seeing a MD literally through me for a loop and made me wonder what I did wrong. be I digress and say the clinic is being a wonderful change of pace for me.

For Albany Med, this is a reasonably good and friendly practice. Medical and clerical staff are efficient and capable. The only odd thing about AMC's Department of Psychiatry is that it is very heavily filled with Clinical Psychologists. That's not a bad thing--I see a licensed clinical psychologist for psychotherapy myself. I still don't know why there are so many PhD's and so few MD's--I suspect it may be that no student from the School of Medicine expects to become a practicing psychiatrist via AMC. It is nearly impossible to find an MD here even if one is only seeking periodic medication maintenance. It's odd, and I don't know if AMC is doing anything to change this. Since the med school is directly adjacent to the County's Mental Hospital, you'd think they'd have this figured out.
