Peter Luger Steak House

The best of the best waiters work here. I fell in love with this place not just for their Peter Luger grade food, but for their wonderful service. The waiters (our waiter George and this one other waiter that packed me a bag of their bread I absolutely love) are warm and welcoming with a great sense of humor. Definitely planning on going here more often.

First time at the Great Neck location after many wonderful experiences in Brooklyn - and the classic dinner of steak, German potatoes and creamed spinach just as perfectly amazing here as at the mother ship! Hats off to our server Gil - professional, friendly, efficient (and laughed at my jokes!). Overall, had a great experience and will definitely be back soon!

The service is what stood out during our meal. Our waiter Peter was attentive and always catering to our needs. If we needed more water, if we needed this and that, he was going out of his way to help us. When we ordered a steak for 3, one member of our party wanted it medium while the others wanted medium rare. He got it medium rare for us and then “cooked” at the table some pieces of the steak as medium. Kind of a neat trick since the plate is super hot and very helpful when different members of your group prefer their meat cooked differently. I guess the only knock I have is that I wish they’d allow you to serve your own birthday cake at the table, but they don’t allow outside food. That said, very pleased with the service.

If I had to rate on food and food alone, obviously 10/10, or 5 stars, whatever the heck is needed here. The steak, cooked to perfection, buttery smooth, melt in the mouth kinda steak. Our table ordered the bacon, which in itself is to die for. Crunchy outer skin, but the meat and fat just punch your flavor receptors right in it's mouth. The Creamed spinach and hashbrowns obviously just as equally amazing. This might be biased but I love lesser cream in my spinach so that was for me personally, just chefs kiss. But my real reason I'm here writing this was the interactions with the staff. Our server was a fine gentleman named Ray. We of course had two other lovely gentleman join us later in service to help and ask how we were and they were just as amazing, but I'm specifically here for Ray.

Our table, was well, probably an unconventional table. We definitely laughed loud, but the ambiance in the establishment was also rather bustling and well yes, we were probably side eyed, Ray treated us AMAZINGLY. Funny, took every joke with a laugh and threw it right back which was a delightful treat! I wanted to say as amazing as the food was, service was just as equally exquisite. Lovely experience! Thank you Peter Luger and the lovely staff inside! And sorry we were loud and possibly inconvenient! Can't wait to be back and play ring around the Rosie with the plates and silverware again!

Steak tastes same as it always has for the past 12-15 years I have visited on and off. Peter Luger's remains the best steak I have had hands down. Its highly aged, making it very unique, with other aged steaks from places like David Burke Prime and Joseph's not even coming close.

Sides are always high quality as well, especially the bacon. Save room for dessert as its worth a try, especially with shlag (whipped cream).

Staff is attentive and efficient, getting everything right, making it hard to rate less than full stars as compared to all the steak houses out there. The steak is what shines the most at Luger's.
