The stay at the Essex House was phenomenal. The room was beautiful and no detail was overlooked!! Also, the employees were all very friendly, professional and accommodating. Finally, the location was perfect...we would definitely stay here again!!!
I love the old NYC Central Park South feel. The building is classic, and does not disappoint.
Service is excellent and I think the drawbacks are due to the Wuhan Virus counter-measures required by the City of New York.
The room was of course spotless, fresh, and felt luxurious. As it is a Grand Dame of NYC, it is solidly built and therefor very quiet, with almost zero ambient noise.
I might suggest that the hotel security attire is not a good idea. While I appreciate knowing the premises are secure, the black polo shirts emblazoned with “SECURITY” across the back, gave the feel of bouncers at a club, often crowded near the front entrance. I haven’t had this experience at a Marriott before.
Altogether an excellent experience, and I will always choose a Marriott hotel when possible.
Staff have been friendly and accommodating at check in and check out. The team in the breakfast room are spot on as well. Nothing left empty for long and a good variety of food choices. Scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, pork sausage, crispy bacon, hash brown patties, oatmeal, waffle station, fruits, granola, coffee, juices and the list goes on! Plenty of hot sauces on each table so you can add whatever level of heat you'd like.
