The Renfrew Center for Eating Disorders - New York, NY

I can truly give 5 stars to the Renfrew Center, NYC site. They are fully staffed, and the staff genuinely care about the full wellbeing of the patient. I have also seen the NYC site become more knowledgeable about the impact of trauma on EDs, to better help and understand the needs of some patients. The dietitians use a Health At Every Size approach, and are extremely knowledgeable and supportive. The therapists each have different approaches, but all understand the importance of connection and using skills for long term recovery. This location also utilizes art and drama therapy to create a different path forward to recovering. I can never thank the staff at this site enough for teaching me that I am capable of recovery, and that I deserve it. Thank you Renfrew, for everything.

Honestly this place changed my life. It didn't seem major at first but how I think of food and my body is just different down to my everyday thoughts. It's not going to be easy at all. When I went to renfrew I had already been in some form of treatment so some of my work was already in progress. I think it was the push I needed in recovery. I do believe that I am still recovering and not everyday is perfect but this place has a lot of mental health professionals that care. I wasn't always a big talker in the groups but I definitely learned a lot about myself and others. I do recommend this treatment for anyone that's really struggling and is looking for a community.
