Dr. Song is, in my opinion, the old fashioned type of doctor that will spend as much time as it takes to explain to you her thinking, test results, answers all questions thoroughly in layman terms, and will even talk with you, not necessarily about your health, but just because she’s interested in you as a person. This is why you might have to wait in the waiting room a little longer than you may like. She treats all patients the same. I can appreciate that very much. I have many doctors that I have to wait for and they are all like Dr. Song. I’ll take a doctor like this any time over the ones who are only interested in getting you in and out. So bring a book, a cup of coffee and relax. Know that you are in excellent hands.
I brought my 17 year old HS varsity quarterback son to her because he gets very bad migraines which have increased in intensity since 3rd grade. In 2nd grade he had a single partial complex seizure with transient global amnesia. He literally lost his short term memory, from minute to minute, for almost 8 hrs. He was of course followed for several years by a pediatric neurologist but never had another seizure. Taking all this Information into
account and asking for more detail she knew exactly what she wanted to do. Resting EEG, sleep deprived, stressed EEG and brain MRI. On a sleep deprived, stressed EEG, his brain fired in the exact location she speculated from the findings of his MRI - his hippocampus. Which was not symmetrical, as it should be. Turns out his migraines are possibly masking his silent seizures. It probably never stopped from 2nd grade but was never investigated deeply enough.
I could of given 4 stars because yes, there is one receptionist who is rude, but not the rest of the staff and I would not want to take away from Dr. Song’s expertise as a doctor and educator.
Dr Song was exactly what we were looking for.
My mother was having trouble walking, and it was getting to the point where it seemed like she would soon be in a wheel chair. Dr. Song was very thorough, asked history, had MRI, nerve tests, and found that there were several things at fault. One thing she did that most doctors dont do is, she explained everything, instead of dismissing you and if you wouldn't understand. I found that she is a teacher at NYU, so maybe this is why she is so good at explaining the situation.
All in all, it seems that the problems have, at the very least halted from getting any worse, and is possibly slowly getting better. I would not hesitate for a second recommending this doctor. She is a hidden gem.
