Willard Mountain

This is a great little mountain! Family owned and super friendly and cozy environment. Reasonably priced and interesting trails. Great for beginners and intermediate riders and skiers but there are a few places for experts as well. The tubing looks fun and it's great that you don't have to do much climbing or walking to where you need to be. Even though it's been a rough winter for maintaining snow, they've done pretty well with production and there weren't too many icy places like I've seen elsewhere. Highly recommend the ski lessons for all ages as well!

Willard Mountain is perfect for families with young children. It has multiple ski lifts including magic carpet, tow rope, and chair lifts. There is also a variety of ski trails for beginners and more advanced skiers.

I was impressed with all the staff. The cashier was very knowledgeable and recommended the most appropriate lesson once I described my children's ages and prior experience. The ski school instructors gave individualized instruction despite it being a small group. The chair lift operator made sure my children's restraint bar was lowered each time they got on.

The lodge is also very comfortable for parents to wait while their children ski. I noticed the heat was turned on and there was plenty of sitting room as Willard asks that their customers check their bags. The tables were wiped clean and garbage emptied multiple times in a few hour period. I appreciated the little touches to make our skiing experience more convenient including short-term parking to unload skis and baskets in the bathroom stalls to place gloves.

My children's friends are enrolled in the six week ski school program. I was delighted to hear that Willard canceled ski lessons last week due to freezing cold temperatures. The Willard management was looking out for their customers' best interest and not just making money.

My children are very excited to take their three cousins skiing at Willard in a couple weeks. This is our new favorite local mountain!!

For my bachelorette party, my girls booked a day for snow tubing. I was super excited and when we got there, they called saying that slope was closed. We were all from out of town so we couldn't reschedule, but the staff offered for us to ski. Only 1 out of 6 of us knew how, so they made a staff member available to us for a lesson.
They were so so kind to us for the mix up! They got us the ski rentals and Steve was our instructor. What a great teacher!! He worked so well to make sure we all felt comfortable on the skis and were understanding the fundamentals. We all really enjoyed the day and we're so proud of the progress we made! We all said we would go skiing again, it was that good.
When we finished, they got our food and drinks for free for the mix up, again, so kind. Steve even saved us a table in the longue to sit at.
I cannot recommend this place (and Steve) enough!!
As someone who is foreign to skiing and gets intimated, this place was so welcoming!!!

Willard is a great little mountain, close by Troy area and not overly priced. Wonderful ski and board learning lessons, MOST of the instructors really take thier time with the kids (and adults). They also have tubing which is always busy. The magic carpet lift for tubing is shared with the larger beginner area so it can be quite congested during peak and lesson times. Parking lot folks up fast, get there early! I went there and got a beginner area only pass since I took an 10-11 yr hiatus from boarding since I had my daughter, who is now taking lessons here.

I went night skiing here. They have a deal where you can ski from 7-9pm for just $25. I wasn’t expecting much more than a couple runs, but there is a decent amount of variety here - at least half a dozen runs lit up, and the snow is great for the challenging winter we’ve had. They do make their own, and cater to the local schools. Great for people of all ages and skiing/snowboarding levels. From the tracks through the trees on steep terrain, it’s evident some talented skiers visit, and they have a reasonably priced bar and restaurant for your apres ski that is open a half hour after the lifts close at 9pm. I will definitely be back. They also tune up skis and were the only place within an hour that offered me same day service. Do not miss out on this gem. They are experts with the gear in their shop as well.
