Artis Senior Living of Somers

The best thing I did on November 30 was to move my mom into Artis of Somers. Traveling an hour and a half to the Catskills and monitoring 7 care partners became exceedingly difficult not to mention so stressful for my sister and me. Artis has lifted a huge weight off of our shoulders. Knowing that my mom is well taken care of allows us to have so much peace of mind. The first several months were very difficult for my mom but the staff at Artis supported her and me every step of the way. My visits with my mom are so pleasant now. It’s wonderful to see her eating well and always involved in an activity.

When we realized that my dad could no longer live alone, even with all of our efforts to keep him home, we started researching options in senior living and looking for the type of care which would be the best fit for his needs at this time. Artis of Somers was one of our first visits. My husband and I were very impressed but we did our due diligence to make sure we were making the right decision. My dad has been at Artis for over a month now and I must say Artis of Somers has met or exceeded our expectations. The facility itself is bright, thoughtfully decorated and welcoming. From the very comprehensive questionnaire to the attention to his cognitive care, the staff has truly made us comfortable that he is in the best of hands. Throughout his transition he has been treated with kindness, respect and patience as he has settled in. Every visit my dad will tell me “the staff could not be nicer…or more helpful”. It has made such a difference for me and my family knowing my dad is safe and very well cared for thanks to this community and their wonderful staff.

I can't tell you how much we love and appreciate the beautiful staff at Artis Senior Living at Somers. With all of our anxiety and fear in this difficult decision that this was the best for Dad, we were blessed at each visit, with compassion and detailed information about the transition and how the facility is run. They have wonderful daily activities to keep the residents engaged and entertained. The facility itself is clean and very organized. What can I say... I pray everyday for the staff and residents!! They are truly beautiful people.

It has been a rough road taking care of my mother. My family and I were so torn about how to best care for her and we were all exhausted. It was a tough decision to move mom into memory care. Once we learned about Artis Senior Living of Somers and talked with the staff, our fears and concerns were eased, but still, what would it be like for mom once she was there? We are delighted to say it has been a great move for mom. She is treated with such respect and care that she adjusted extremely well to her new environment. The staff at Artis go out of their way to make sure each resident is offered activities that they are interested in, and they are extremely responsive to any questions or concerns from the family. Mom can't say enough nice things about the food, the people, her room and the community spaces. This is coming from someone who was extremely resistant to moving in. In summary, I highly recommend Artis Senior Living of Somers very much and the only thing, in retrospect, that I would change is that we didn't move mom in sooner!

I am proud to say my father has been a resident at Artis Senior Living now for over two months. With this location not having been open very long one should expect some growing pains. But with an educated, dedicated and humble staff things have been managed rather seamlessly. What I like most is the staff has an open ear. They listen to family members who know their loved ones best. They are responsive, compassionate and very much make an effort to understand each resident’s needs. It is truly a partnership to celebrate the individual with instruction to maintain balance and structure. I am able to sleep at night knowing my father is in good hands and I will be promptly informed if there is a change in his behavior or condition.
