  We had a great time, caught a good number of fish (mostly crappie), too! The people there were helpful and friendly, and the only negative seemed to be that previous fishermen left some junk (hooks, bottles, etc) where we were fishing, and we had young kids learning to fish.

  Great little place to take the kids fishing. Under 18s fish free. Bathrooms on site. NO BAIT SALES, PLAN AHEAD.

  Rented a nice double kayak and had a great time paddling around the lake. The guys who helped us out were awesome, too! We’ll be back for sure

  Cousin does it all right on with the way Ma used to do it great flavor no salt nee5 straight to the mouth. That's no lies, hot and real deal on the price

  One of the best hidden gems of living in Durham. I still remember all the nice weekends in there over a fishing boat and heading home with full bucket of fish. The motor is new and nice, but battery runs out faster than expected. The ranger said that the water level is low recently, so the propeller may stuck into the bottom and drain the battery quickly. After switching to a new battery, I was able to get my boat crossing the bridge and far away to places without anybody else. One catfish bite the bait and was pulled into my bucket. I started to worry about battery life and tried to go directly to the dock. With the dock just around the corner, the propeller hit the bottom and does not run any more. I had to pull the oars and started to learn to use them under the direction of the ranger on the dock. Fortunately these are not hard, just good exercises. One issue of the things here is there is no place to buy minnows any more. I ended up with Night Crawlers. Even that is from a gas station far away. Probably somebody can point me to a closer place with minnows and I can prepare better next time. And it has to be a cooler day with higher water level!

Little River Lake was completed in 1987. When full, it is 549 acres and the average depth is approximately 25 feet. The facility is located at the intersection of Orange Factory and Blalock Roads in northern Durham County. Little River Lake offers bank fishing. N.C. Wildlife Resource Commission fishing licenses are required.
