Absolutely fantastic soups and sauces. The albondigas (think Mexican-spiced meatballs in a great broth with veggies) were fantastic. I also got a curry soup that was light but flavorful and still filling. I'd have added some heat to it, but then again, when its regularly 90+ outside you might want to be able to adjust that heat level yourself. The sauces are creative and delicious. At $10 / qt for the soups it makes a great way to add some interesting new flavors to meals during the week (especially leftovers) or ~2 standalone meals. Either way John's soups are now regularly on my weekly grocery shopping. Delivery was safe and 0 contact so all around a fantastic experience. Now on to my braised pork and sweet potato soup (delicious!!)

If you are anything like me, the idea of cooking outside of your “go-to” meals sounds idyllic and constantly remains on your New Year’s resolution list, but usually life gets in the way and cooking becomes more of a hassle than an enjoyable experience. No matter what cooking experience level you have (I am a beginner and my husband has intermediate skills), you will learn to love cooking for yourself and loved ones by taking advantage of John’s classes that are fun, informative and seasoned to your taste!
Before moving to Chapel Hill, we lived in Europe and were able to enjoy delicious and fresh meals from diverse regional cuisines—these meals were not pretentious—just made with love, seasoned properly and cooked with seasonal produce. John does an amazing job through passion and storytelling of empowering even the most beginner cooks to learn basic fundamentals that are game changers in the kitchen… it will bring much more rich enjoyment into your cooking and meal preparation experiences. His intimate classes are entertaining and a perfect gift for yourself or a loved one. John feels like an old friend we have known for years and we look forward to seeing where he takes this amazing concept over the next chapter of his career. Chefs with John’s talent are not usually in the business of sharing their skills with locals… tap into this regional gem and enjoy cooking again. Cheers!

I took the first class of the Essential Series, and it was everything I hoped for and more. My hope was that I would be able to understand proper knife skills and learn enough to really build on what I learned through practice later, but even in the first class I felt comfortable doing things the right way and was able to accomplish things like peeling and slicing a grapefruit in ways I had always wanted to. I cannot wait to take the next part of the series and I could not more highly recommend Season to Taste.

I have taken several of Johns classes now, and he is THE BEST. Everything is beautifully organized and prepped, and he is professional while also making the small classes feel like a little community/family affair. He manages to help us create edible works of art that feel effortless enough that I have actually gone home and made treats for friends. Would recommend to anyone!!

Highly recommend Season to Taste's cooking classes! Around Christmas, we took Season to Taste's creme and mousse dessert class and had a blast. Looking at the description, I thought "no way we can learn how to make creme anglaise, creme caramel, creme brulee, chocolate mousse, panna cotta, profiteroles, and pot de creme in one sitting"..but we did. John was an incredible teacher who taught us the basic skills to make all of those desserts. Even though he's such an accomplished chef from some of the best restaurants in the triangle (anyone else missing Six Plates?), John was super personable and made everything simple for us. After the class, we were even able to make some of the desserts on our own for holiday parties! You should definitely take these classes if you get a chance. Thanks John!!
