Dr. Abernathy is an amazing doctor. A friend recommended her and we scheduled a consultation for my husband after the medical profession gave up and sent us home with instructions on what to do when he had a stroke - not if - but when. He had extensive radiation and chemo several years prior for throat cancer and had a completely blocked left carotid artery and only 20% flow in the right , as well as extremely high blood pressure, diabetes and thyroid problems. Now a year later, he is off of all prescription medication, his blood pressure and glucose are stable and he is in much better health. The last carotid ultrasound showed an an improvement on the right carotid to 49% flow. Dr. Abernathy is extremely knowledgeable orders labs that are needed to look at every aspect of the body to determine what the problems are, the best approach to addressing the issues with diet changes, supplements, and anything that she has found to be applicable. Her recommendations are based on sound research and experience. We have been extremely impressed with her expertise and are honored to be her patient. Our 23 year old daughter has struggled with strange allergic reactions since she was 4 years old, that the medical profession has been unable to identify. After her initial consultation, Dr. Abernathy scheduled a series of labs that helped her pinpoint exactly what her problems were. Through the various labs, she was able to confirm these food allergies from various angles so that there was no doubt. She recommended diet and lifestyle changes as well as supplements and our daughter is much better and knows exactly what foods she needs to avoid. We are very grateful that we have her on our side and recommend her to all our family and friends. The quality of our life is greatly improved and we are blessed by her wisdom and experience.
If you are located in North Carolina Or South Carolina, Dr. Abernathy is definitely WORTH IT! I recommend her to any and everyone. I have even had family travel from surrounding areas and they love her as well! 5 STARS!
I first met Dr Abernathy a little more than 9 years ago. It has absolutely changed my life. She is extremely knowledgeable in her field of naturopathic medicine as well as medicine & wellness in general... Always giving new and innovative suggestions and treatment methods that will improve your overall health. She does not expect you to take her word and her word only. Any and everything she tells you is based on much research and many articles & real life examples that she has found all over the world both past and present. She is very forward and transparent about showing you these things as to where her thought process has come from. She has helped me and will help anyone find the absolute most economical (financially I mean) way to get lab tests done, where to go to see doctors and or Specialists that can help any health concern that you would have without killing your pocket.
I saw a recent review that said she is defensive if you do not agree with her and she can have a superior attitude (I think those were the words used). Nothing could be further from the truth. I don't know the person who left that review, and it does not matter that I do not know them. I know Dr. Abernathy. I have known her for over 9 years as a patient. She is extremely open and open-minded to all different opinions and ways of thinking and attitudes and treatment methods and is more than willing to discuss anything that you would agree or disagree with. She has absolutely unequivocally never had a God complex or anything remotely close to that. Anyone who would suggest that she has a superior attitude is flat-out 100% WRONG. And I would respectfully tell anybody JUST THAT if I were to ever have a chance to have a discussion with them. That is all there is to it. I'm adding this to my review because it is just very sad that in our society of impatience and social media anyone can throw shots to tear down someone's character or business reputation... I feel the need to defend someone who I know is absolutely awesome in the field of Health and Wellness. As I said I've known Dr. Abernathy for over 9 years, and I wish I had known her for more than 20 years. She is the second most important person to ME (because let's face it what do we have if we do not have our health) behind only my mother and father. Please understand, if you want to live a better and healthy life, and anything that would affect that from your overall health... Do yourself a favor and set up an initial consultation with Dr. Abernathy. She is not going to talk you out of seeing your doctor again. She is not going to talk down about regular medical doctors or general medicine at all. Quite frankly she is more than open to working with people in all facets of the medical industry to make sure that you are as healthy as you can possibly be. This is how she was with me the first time I ever met her. She has been that way with me ever since as well.
