I was just recently in White Oak Manor for short time rehab after a car wreck in which I broke my right femur and I had no problem with the staff once I got used to their schedule. The food is a bit bland and arrives warm but they can microwave it. They have fun activities if you are into that sort of thing. Actually I'm hoping to be readmitted since I am not physically able to live by myself at this stage of recover.
UPDATE: First, I am grateful to the folks at White Oak that my aunt is still alive. Second, it seems like the people I was talking about are no longer in the picture. Third, I'm old school, I went to Google as a last resort. So when I left my original review that was after two years of calls, meetings and requests with the right people in multiple departments at multiple levels. Everybody that should know, knew, so if the info didn't make it to the administrator... well, that's telling me something. And if the info did make it to the administrator, but nothing's happening, that's telling me something else. Because I wasn't talking about the blip of a bad day, everybody has those-- I was talking about cold-blooded people placed where warm-hearted people need to be. And we all know the personalities of the people we work with, so if that behavior being tolerated, or cleverly hidden, then complaining can be dangerous. So I prayed. Caring for seniors is very demanding, and yet it really requires some warmth to go well. I think changes are happening.
ORIGINAL: At least 7, and possibly 9, of these 5-3 star reviews were posted by people that work at the facility. I am glad they like where they work. However, please note that most reviews from the loved ones of actual residents are 1 star. While I have met some really funny and caring people there, I have also experienced astounding coldness and spite. My aunt lives there now, and the second I can get her out I will.
I have worked at White Oak for 5 years. I've read some of these reviews and wonder what facility they are talking about. The nurses and CNA's are very caring at White Oak. I wouldn't hesitate to put a loved one into their care.
