I have mixed feelings about this place.
The first impression was great, our son was referred by his doctor to get his one eye checked out. We had an excellent experience getting our sensitive and anxious child through all the assessments. I am very grateful for that.

They found that one eye wasn't working properly and suggested he return in a couple of weeks for a deeper evaluation. When I asked for a summary of our first visit, the doctor agreed and took my email address, and promised to send it to me (spoiler: she didn't).
I didn't pay much attention. We returned for another evaluation where the doctor was working on the prescription our child needed. It was all about "We need to know the prescription for glasses".
I found the doctor to be very nice and convincing. Even my child agreed to wear glasses. However, it was difficult for me to explain everything to my family, so I asked again for a diagnosis and recommendations. I was promised again that "Yes, we will send it to you, please leave us your email".
Spoiler: they didn't.
On another day, we picked out glasses. There is a great selection.
No prices though, just displays. Only the sales person tells you how much this and that is. Prices are shocking. It costs about $500 to get flexible kids glasses. I am not speaking about designer stuff! My fault for not doing my research. We picked 2 pairs, and I paid something like $700 with a super discount and insurance. When we returned to get our order, I asked again for the diagnosis and visit summary, and finally got the email. I had to ask for a receipt of my payment for glasses twice. The sales lady said she could provide me with an additional discount and returned $70 to my card. did not find that transaction in the receipt.
Cherry on top: both glasses are useless. Yes we were told that wearing glasses is uncomfortable at first and it may take a week or so to adjust. But my kid just can't see anything in those glasses, everything is blurry, he can't walk or read, and it doesn't change with time.
I am not a vision doctor and can't evaluate diagnosis and treatment.

What I can evaluate is our complain, we came with a statement "during well visit pediatrician found out that one eye works as expected and one eye is having issues, kid can't read letters".
In the document from the doctor, I see "complaint of blurring vision, involving the left and right eye".
I wish I had that document from Day 1, but they kept it until I paid for the glasses.
They charge at least 3 times more for kids' frames (regular, not designer) than BJ's, for example. Can't speak for the quality , just the price range.

Will I return to that place to work deeper and try to figure out what to do next? No way. I have already lost too much money and time. Neither further evaluation nor visual therapy was recommended. Just "let's get the prescription, he needs glasses". Maybe he does need glasses, but I'll work with another doctor on that.
Taking just one star down for not providing the documents on time when asked, the rest of their services I am not able to evaluate.

Every visit I’ve had at Carolinas Vision Group has been excellent. Dr. Lutley is fantastic and genuinely cares about you and your experience. She is very patient and kind. So glad I found this eye care center.

Overall I really like this group. They are nice and even if things are not correct they will make sure everything gets corrected. The doctors and staff are super nice and friendly. It’s hard to find great doctors and on a scale of 1-10 I would give them a 20. I love Dr. Howard and how much she takes the time to make sure all of your questions are answered

Dr. Knudson is great! I have some out of the ordinary eye problems associated with autoimmune diseases and he patiently takes the time to work through the issues and get me what I need.
Mariam was fun and engaging and did a great job helping me pick out my new glasses!
