Seven Mile Creek Natural Area

Such a beautiful place to go for a hike. Very easy trails to walk, highly recommend going here.

The prettiest nature park in the western Triangle. Well maintained level paths - no tree-root or jutting-rock tripping hazards like Eno or Duke Forest. Loop trails so no chance of getting lost. Tall trees, sparse underbrush. Lower chance of ticks and other insects dropping onto your head.
Footpaths down to creek banks in a couple of areas. Picnic table close to parking lot. A couple of wood benches along the trail. Portable toilet available.

Another hidden gem of Hillsborough! It’s a bit out of the way but that means you are more likely to have the trails to yourself. The parking spots are also limited to about 6-8 vehicles. But the trail is excellent; nice and wide with some very gentle rolling elevation and a long stretch that follows the Seven Mile Creek. Highly recommended.

Just a couple of miles of trails at most, but nicely laid out with overlooks, benches, and a wonderful old cemetery along the way. Trails are generally easy, with just a few hills, and a nice creek. An easy access picnic area at the trailhead.

The best part a out this park is the fact that so few know about it. The creek itself is a very nice place with the sounds of trickling water and birds calling nearby. This made a great backdrop for my marriage proposal and as no one was there made it private as well.
There are some downsides to this park however, it seems the caretakers have been letting it go and not cleaning up dead trees a d partially fallen pines. The trails themselves are a bit uneven and rooted as well but, it is still a great place and can be quite romantic.
