This is a Hidden Gem. I have lived here for 55 years and did not know about it. It gives a great historical perspective of life in North Carolina from 1800 to the present time. It's free but they ask for a donation which after seeing how well maintained it is and the knowledge of the tour guide, you have no problem donating. This is one of the best non-profit organizations I have seen relating to the history of North Carolina. It would be great for kids to give them an understanding of the history of this area of North Carolina.
Amazing! Love the history our tour guide was very nice she did seem a little nervous but I totally understand that. It was very interesting and very engaging would not recommend for little kids though it's more like 10 and up.
Enjoyed a lovely St. Patrick's Day tea here. Loved hearing the history of the home. Nice presentation on St. Patrick and very pretty Celtic harp music.
This historic site is very unique, because it’s history is so well documented. The student’s letters are full of details that make you understand their time there. My wife and I will definitely go back when there is a presentation. The staff was very knowledgeable and made the tour interesting.
