The Happy Place Grill & Creamery

The Happy Place is located on Highway 39N in Townsville, NC, on the Steel Creek Marina, and Hibernia or Henderson Point camp grounds, side of the Lake. I

t's a great place to meet up with friends or stop by before, during or after a trip to Kerr Lake. Outstanding service, kid-friendly, nice family atmosphere, delicious food and both hand dipped and soft serve ice cream, at reasonable price. Tipping is appreciated.

I recommend the Philly Cheesesteak. hand-cut fries and a bannana spllit. A word to the wise, make sure to order your ice cream after you eat so you can fully enjoy your meal, without your ice cream melting.

The Haopy place has a level, gtavel covered parking lot and have separate windows for ordering and pick-up. It helps when they are really busy, In the summer months. The picnic table area outside is quaint and gets plenty of shade. They also boast a sit-down restaurant with very much needed A/C, for cooling off with a meak and ice cream after a long, hot day at the lake.

They are closed on Monday and Tuesday for a well deserved break.

The bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast biscuits are wonderful! Biscuits are light and flaky. Staff were friendly and service was quick. Definitely will be back next time camping at Kerr Lake.

Very enjoyable afternoon ice cream stop with friends and family. Super fast & friendly service and the milkshakes were fantastic! We got there between lunch and dinner so we didn’t opt for the cheesesteaks and fries. That will be on the agenda the next time at the lake! They have both soft serve and hard scoop ice cream options. Lots of available toppings as well. Worth the trip!

Best way to judge if an eatery is good is to find out where the local go. Was at the Happy Place on a Saturday around 1:30p. The order line was 6 deep with locals (the order taker knew the patrons by name).

The servings are oversized and reasonably priced.

Besides the hamburger and spicy chicken sandwich, would recommend the french fries. The fries are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Several patrons called them double cooked fries although they didn't seem to me to be. Either way, they are definitely worth a try.

The seating is outside on park benches under tall trees.

If you are in the Kerr Lake area and want a tasty and filling lunch, the Happy Place can get you to your happy place.

Stopped for dinner Friday and thought it might be okay for a roadside restaurant in the middle of nowhere. Ordered a blt to be on the safe side, but had a bite of my daughter’s chicken philly and realized that’s what I should have ordered instead!

Between the six of us we also had a double cheeseburger, steak and cheese, corn dogs, onion rings, & fries. Everything was great!

Came back the next afternoon for ice cream, also great.

Came back day three for breakfast. Again, everything was great. Next time we head to Henderson for camping we will absolutely be stopping here.
