This is reputed to be the oldest wooden church building, circa 1773, still standing in North Carolina. It no longer has a congregation but is preserved by the Episcopal Church as an historic shrine. Richard Henderson who hired Daniel Boone to explore Kentucky and John Penn who signed the Declaration of Independence worshipped in this place. Occasional services are still held. Our next scheduled worship is Homecoming on the second Sunday in October. Come for worship at 11:00 and stay for a pot luck lunch afterwards.
Lovely and historic
Beautiful wood frame church. Built before the American Revolution.
