This is a great to place to hike. (easy/moderate). There are a few falls like Coal Creek Falls which add a nice scenic element to the hike.

So many beautiful trails to explore. Trails are well maintained and less crowded.

Recommend downloading a map on alltrails before you head out. We got plenty lost and enjoyed every bit of it! Parking lot was full but we only encountered other hikers at the waterfall

There are many hiking trails at Cougar Mountain. We started at Indian Trail and fork up to Shy Bear Trail this time. We stopped at Cougar Mountain Lookout to peak Bellevue/Issaquah. We wanted to see the fall but there was no water (no fall) during this summer. They were a little bit of uphill trails but by being surrounded by tall trees and ferns kept us cool.

I went out there on the 17th, starting at the Licorice Fern Trail and making my way north to the parking lot where I ate lunch. After that I went south to the Coal Creek Falls, and my god they are beautiful. It was mostly dry with some small streams and pockets of still water. I then went back to the Licorice Fern Trail where I ended my hike.
I can't wait to go back there after it's rained a bit. If it was this great dry, I can't imagine how great it'll be wet.

While the falls will most likely be the highlight if your trip (and for good reason), there is still a bunch of other nice scenery along the way.

Also, since it gets pretty steep at some points (30%+ if I had to guess), make sure to tie your shoes really well.
